A transformation happens when a person, animal, or object changes from one state to another state. A person can change from an old self in the past to a new self in the present. Transformation can happen during the process of physical change, such as a caterpillar evolving into a beautiful butterfly or a tadpole changing into a frog. Moreover, transformation can affect a person’s life and other people around them. In Frank Kafka’s Metamorphosis, Gregor’s transformation has negative and positive consequences towards his family and friends.
One negative consequence is that he lost his position to continue being the breadwinner of the family. Since his parents do not work, Gregor has to carry his family in order to take care of the family. His compassion and love for the family helps him to do right for his family. Even though the work is hard, he strives to provide for his family the best way he could, including paying off his parents’ debt (Part I, ).
