It is not unusual in this world for people to disguise their desired outcomes with lies and trickery. In the play Othello, written by William Shakespeare, the evil character Iago uses trickery to achieve his goal of destroying Othello, while the unsuspecting Othello continues to believe that Iago is a true and loyal friend. Shakespeare suggest that Iago is able to trick the other characters by using their flaws to control and take advantage of them.

Iago takes advantage of Rodrigo by attacking his weakness of being Rodrigo’s attraction and fascination toward Desdemona allows Iago to use this to control him. The fact that Rodrigo was so deeply obsessed with Desdemona blinded him and caused him to believe any word that Iago uttered. Iago
