The Panama Canal took over 1,000 men to build. It took 10-11 years to make and 8½ of those years the workers couldn’t do anything. The workers had to use dynamite to help make the well known Panama Canal. They had to flood the Canal up with water because they did not have enough water to cover the land. The Canal locks helped raise and lower the boats to and from the Canal. The Canal cost $350 million to make. Theodore Roosevelt helped make the decision in building the Panama Canal.
Problems while building the Panama Canal is that there was yellow fever still around. Yellow fever is a very dangerous disease that killed 20,000 people when the Panama Canal was being built. Max Theiler stopped the outbreak of yellow fever by producing a
