A tragic hero, heard often But what does it mean? In the lesson it is described as good and decent, in some impressive position from which he falls, fall from grace comes from a tragic flaw. Which that is what it is? Could Okonkwo be describe as a tragic hero? I would say defiantly yes. He has bad events that just spiral down, after one big unfortunate event. Okonkwo could be described as good and decent. But defiantly not all the time. He was a very respect member of the clan, he had money and, a great big garden. No one disliked him per say. He wanted to be more than what his father was and, his whole life he tried to achieve that. Okonkwo was always driven to succeed. At a very young age, most get handed down land and women Not Okonkwo, he built his, and soon after received the label as a hard working farmer. These events and good things do take a turn for the worse however. It is all shaken up when he adopts a son, which he loves so much. His name, Ikemefuna. An, it is simply just a flaw. The tragic flaw Okonkwo has. Many will say it was being afraid of his own fear, which is very true. Him behind afraid to show any emotion at all, made him end up with all the misfortunate events that he did. But to me it was simply that, he expected too much out of people. Throughout the whole story, down to him hanging himself all was because he always just expected too much. He expected his clan to fight, when they didn’t want to.
