Pg. 1
You should know that Africa is the world’s second largest and populated continent in the world. The latitude and longitude of Africa is7° 11' 17" N / 21° 5' 37" E. This continent is south – east of America. Africa covers 20.4 % of the total land area in the world. Many scientists actually believed that the evolution of humans started in central Africa. The climate of Africa ranges from tropical to subarctic on its highest peaks. Its northern half is primarily desert or arid, while its central and southern areas contain both savanna plains and very dense jungle areas. This is because southern Africa is pretty close to the equator. Even with all this large and beautiful land, Africa still has many problems within. This continent is very interesting because it’s so diverse. I’m sure you will love learning more about Africa.
Pg. 2
You should know that Britain, France and Germany were the main Imperialist Powers in Africa during the late 1800s. For more than a century, Imperialism and Colonialism went under way in Africa. This is when the Europeans came into Africa for all of its resources and ended up staying for a while and taking control of pretty much the whole continent. The only two countries that were still independent where Liberia and Ethiopia. They managed to stay independent by keeping up with the European advances. Imperialism was not good for the native Africans because starvation and hatred was common throughout the whole continent because of imperialism. Imperialism and colonialism are a big part of Africa’s history because it kind of shaped Africa’s government and how it is today. It wasn’t good, trust me, buts it’ important.

Pg. 3
You should know that apartheid was a big problem in the country of South Africa. Apartheid is racial discrimination enforced by the national party governments of South Africa. Apartheid took place from 1048-1994, so it is pretty recent. What a lot of people don’t know is that apartheid only took place in South Africa, nowhere else in Africa or the whole world. The word apartheid literally means a policy or system of segregation or discrimination on grounds of race. Apartheid really affected South Africa in a pretty negative way because basically, it divided everyone up into White's and Non-Whites, giving rights to the Whites and almost no rights to the Non-Whites. The S. Africans were not even allowed to protest apartheid or else they could be whipped, fined, or even put in prison. That really took a big toll on the South Africans because they were not able to live a normal life, everywhere they went there was always places for whites, and non-whites. Gladly, apartheid ended in the 199 0’s because of pressures.
Pg. 4 You should know that genocide was a very large problem in Africa. Genocide means the deliberate killing of a large group of people, esp. those of a particular ethnic group or nation. There have been many sad genocides, but the main one in Africa was the Rwandan Genocide. It was between the Hutus and the Tutsis, when the Hutus “got back” at the Tutsis for treating them so badly in the past years. It’s estimated that about 800,000 men, women, and children perished in the Rwandan genocide, perhaps as many as three quarters of the Tutsi population. The funny thing is that the Hutus and Tutsis speak the exact same language and follow very similar religions; the only thing to tell them apart is a slight physical appearance. Most cannot even tell the difference. It’s pretty sad that to ethnic groups so similar would do something like
