This I Believe Poem Because my brother has autism, I truly believe and understand that you need to get to know someone before you judge them. My brother was born with autism, a disease in which his brain was built and functions differently than a typical child, and he will always stay that way. It was devastating news for my parents and they did not know what to do at first, but they have been very strong and have found many ways to help my brother Zachary. My brother is 3 years older than me so naturally I have known him and have been with him my whole life. This may seem to be heading into a sad and depressing tone but it doesn't. Sharing Zach stories and spreading awareness makes my family and I very happy. My brother is happy most of the time and loves looking at and using appliances, electronics and machines. It can be anything form cars, washing machines, microwaves, ceiling fans, and even toilets and urinals. He definitely loves those things but he also is scared of loud noises. So he gets very scared when a toilet is flushed or a car is turned on even though it intrigues him. This makes it hard for him to go to places like baseball games or any ware there are crowds of people because it is loud. My brothers favorite place to go is Cabo San Lucas in Mexico. He loves to swim in the ocean and visit the shops in town, while at the resort we do lots of walking. I remember one story in particular, it was when he ran into one of the old rooms we had stayed in on a previous trip.
