Thneeds: The Destruction Of The Truffula Tree

Thneeds were a useless product that destroyed the entire truffula tree population. This young man named the Once-ler had this grand idea to make a piece of cloth with a huge hole inside. On the down side, the fabric was made up of truffula leaves. The animals and I were distressed that our habitat was being swept away. These trees provide us oxygen and resources to help us grow. I told the Once-ler that what he was doing was wrong, but once the entire town came singing on my land, he began clear-cutting all of the trees.
During production of the thneeds, many harmful things happened to our ecosystem. It was no longer sustainable due to pollution. When it rained, the surface water flooded the land because the trees could not soak it up and filter it into the aquifer. The runoff then drained into the river taking soil with it, which caused sediment pollution. The fish were then living in a contaminated lake and were at risk for endangerment.

The barbaloots did not have any food and were starving. These animals were forced to migrate permanently. The Once-ler cut down miles of trees, so it was very difficult to find a new home.
