Thoreau, Gandhi, and Mandela had a huge impact in our world history because of how they all believed in a Civil Disobedience against their part of government. They as well spoke out against what they thought they needed to complain about in order to get a fair government for them and their people.
Henry David Thoreau was born July 12, 1817 in Concord, Ma. Thoreau believed that ordinary citizens can better themselves, their political system, and their society. His belief in the power of individualism to bring about change peacefully. He was against racism and was an anti-Technology. He was the first black president of South Africa. Mandela tried to overthrow the pro-apartheid government which got him to jail for 27 years. After leaving prison, he worked on achieving human rights and a better future for everyone in South Africa. Mandela became known for his long fight against bad government and racial prejudice. He was respected for his courage and wisdom in bringing people together to live in peace. Mandela was a hero to many of the people in South Africa. After all of his hard work and accomplishments Mandela eventually wrote the book, “Long Walk to Freedom,” were he talked about having courage and not being afraid to speak up. In The book Mandela adds one of his speeches where he says, “We, who were outlaws not so long ago, have today been given the rare privilege to be host to the nations of the world on our own soil,” according to this I believe he said this because “not so long ago” they were forced to do what the government wanted them to do even if they didn’t agree and now it’s them who finally have an opinion were they have the freedom to say what they think and will no longer be afraid of what the government can do to
