Given the task of placing our modern day, contemporary western society into three distinct groups is a challenge. When I think of the number three, many things come to mine. Being a huge baseball fan I think of one of my all-time favorite players, Dale Murphy. I also remember one of the most popular and well known players as well, Babe Ruth. Turning away from baseball, I begin to look at things that are in groups of three. I begin to picture groups of people and animals such as, the three musketeers, the three stooges, three blind mice, and the always popular three monkeys of; see no evil, hear no evil, and speak no evil. This lead me to the question of how do I defeat evil? There is so much evil in our world today, it makes me shutter of some of the sights I have laid my eyes on during my life. These thoughts take me directly to the Bible. The Word of God is the single best weapon against evil we can turn to! The most significance of the number three is all knowing, all seeing, and all doing. Yes, I am speaking of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. I cannot use these as my three modern estates, for they are in reality, one! This led me to my next question; what do the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit do for us? Answer: they love us, they care for us, they forgive us, and they want us to be part of their family. Going through this process of questions and answers, gave me, what I believe, is the ultimate three modern estates: the Truly Saved; the Invisible Saved; and the Unsaved. The Truly Saved are those who comprehend what it means to accept the free gift of salvation through faith, and the acceptance of Jesus Christ as their savior. They are the ones that have turned away from sin and repent when they fall short. They have the courage to face anything that is placed in their path with thoughts of blessings and perseverance. They wear their faith prominently wherever they may be. They are not ashamed or embarrassed to speak about salvation through Christ to others. They understand that it is their job to speak the truth of Jesus, to allow His light to shine through us, but allow the Holy Spirit do the work within the lost individual’s heart. The Truly Saved always has a smile to give to those in need of cheer, or a shoulder to lean on when in despair. These individuals are also those behind the scene within a Church, accomplishing the dirty work that others will not. They are not after recognition or some sort of fanfare. They simply go about doing God’s work to the best of their ability knowing that He is satisfied. Unfortunately, I believe these people are the minority within my three estates of the world today. The Invisible Saved individuals have all stated that they have accepted Christ as their Savior, but just don’t quite comprehend their responsibility as a Christian. Oh, they go to Church each Sunday, to be seen, but do not get involved with the inner workings of the Church. They are quick to depart, making sure they shake the pastor’s hand telling him what a great sermon he gave that day. Once at home they turn off the Christian side and turn on the worldly side. They do no attempt to spread the news of Jesus to anyone. They may be afraid or embarrassed to speak about Jesus. Today’s world has placed fear of persecution when speaking anything about your faith in many areas. The fear of being passed over for a promotion, or being sued for creating a hostile work environment, in prominent in today’s business world. To cover these things up, the Invisible Saved tries to blend in. They consent to listen and telling unacceptable jokes. They gossip at the water fountain about coworkers or neighbors. They only accomplish what they must for fear of appearing to gain favor from their boss. The Invisible Saved
