An Ethnography on Thrill Seekers
Every person and living thing has a fear. These fears may be as silly as the fear of books or as serious as the fear of death. Humans tend to avoid or run away from their fears, but eventually these people will have to overcome their deepest fears. Overcoming a fear takes a lot of courage and time. Some fears can take a lifetime to overcome and some are never conquered. However, there a few people who overcome their fears as quickly as possible and even enjoy it. These people are known as sensualists or thrill seekers. Thrill seekers conquer their fears and inspire others by performing life threatening tasks. Thrill seekers overcome their fears for multiple reasons. One reason is to cross an activity off of a bucket list. These people try to inspire others to achieve their goals by performing different thrills. Professional thrill seekers are often sponsored by corporations. Sponsors provide specialized equipment for these people to complete a stunt and also the seemingly necessary Gopro. Gopros are seen as a necessity in the thrill seeking world. Many professionals believe that capturing a stunt is the second most important task in completing a stunt. The most important task is keeping everyone safe and out of harms way. Professionals must train for their stunts in order to capture the footage needed and keep everyone safe. Training is also the key in maintaining a sponsorship. These people train excessively for their daring tasks. The training not only involves the physical aspect, but also the mental and emotional aspects as well. These people are also preparing and strategizing a way to execute the stunt efficiently and
