Have you ever tried to tie a fly and get frustrated when the material just won't do what you want or are looking efficient ways to tie flies? These are a few tip I have found useful when tying flies.

#1. Use a drinking straw as an egg yarn dispenser

#2. Use part of a pen to hold back heckle. Also, you can use the pointed end for small flies and the large end for large flies.

#3. Pick up some black foam cupboard liner and make a lifetime supply of foam aunts for cheap.

#4. If you are tying multiple flies of the same pattern and need the weight to match the various water conditions. Use different shades or colours of thread to identify the weight class.

#5. Use monofilament and a butane lighter to make eyes for flies such as shrimp.
