Tikki Tavi Character Analysis

My favorite character in Rikki-Tikki-Tavi is, of course, Rikki-Tikki-Tavi. The author of this amazing story is Rudyard Kipling. Rikki-Tikki is a mongoose that gets taken in by an English family. While he is living in the family’s bungalow he makes two snake enemies, Nag and Nagaina. In this battle to get rid of the cobras he proves to the family and the animals in the garden that he is not only smart but also brave, kind, and caring.
When Nagaina tried to attack Rikki-Tikki in the garden, she missed. She got so angry that she jumped up to try to eat Darzee (the bird in the garden) but she could not reach his nest so she slithered away. Rikki-Tikki was about to go after her and Nag but “he did not feel he could manage two snakes at once so he trotted off” (19). That was only the beginning. One night Rikki-Tikki overheard Nag and Nagaina talking. They were talking about how they were going to kill the English family to make Rikki-Tikki leave and they would finally be able to rule over the garden and the bungalow. When Nag came in Rikki-Tikki thought about how he was going to kill him. Finally Nag fell asleep and Rikki thought to himself “It must be the head,”’ He said at last “‘The head above the hood; and when I am once there, I must not let go”’ then he jumped.”(22). Then he heard Darzee’s wife screaming for him to come to the bungalow. When he got there he saw the family sitting there not eating and not moving. Then he saw Nagaina “Turn round, Nagaina: turn and fight!” (25). When she saw her last egg the the battle began. It went back and forth until at last Nagaina went into a snake hole and Rikki-Tikki went in after.The next day Darzee sang about the victory of
