This is Tim Fiedler reporting live from the trenches of the British lines in France. It is late summer and the sun is beating down on us. It is about noon and it is only getting hotter. I am surrounded by British soldiers who are dripping sweat and are stained with the blood of others or themselves. They fight gallantly in hopes of wiping out German forces and returning home to their families. This battle has been going on for a few hours now and is showing no signs of stopping. The trenches are very chaotic and have harsh conditions. All I can hear is the repeated sound of gunfire and cannon fire which quakes the ground whenever it strikes near you.
