The book I chose in the beginning of the year is The Perfect Season by Tim McCarver. This book was written in March 30, 1999. The overall idea of the book is how the 1998 MLB season was one of the best in baseball history. From record breaking batting averages to memorable characters that change the sport of baseball. Coming into the 1998 season there was great talent in the league. Specially two of the best hitters of all time. Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa. The author tells us how these two when at it every season with their homerooms and batting averages. Theses two guys were very good friends off the field but when it came to play ball they ball. One of the reasons why 1998 was the best year in MLB history was because these two guys when back to back for the the lead in the homeroom list. The National League Division Series: The Chicago Cubs after winning the wild card won lost to the Atlanta Braves 3-0, while the San Diego Padres beat the Houston Astros 3-1. The American League Championship: Yankees once again come out as favorites and also win the series 4-2. The National League Championship: Braves fall to the Padres 4-2.
The World Series was between the Yankees and the Padres the two best teams throughout the season. Both teams had a good chance but one team had the edge since the beginning of the season. With help of Derek Jeter and young shortstop the Yanks came up on top and beat the Padres 4-0.
