Tim O'Brien is saying that if you’re coping with the loss of somebody then if you tell stories about them it will bring them back to life and bring light to the situation.O’Brien describes how the soldiers looked for Kiowa’s body: “Kiowa was gone. He was under the mud and water folded in the water, and their only thought was to find him and dig him out and then move on to someplace dry and warm.” (155) This quote explains how the boys only thought was to find their dead soldier Kiowa.
