Timothy Carpenter was convicted of being in charge of multiple robberies from cell phone stores in detroit. He was sentenced to around 116 years in prison! He was caught by his location data from his phone and his cell phone service provider found it and gave it to the police to take over. His phone showed that he had been apart of multiple robberies.
The police took Carpenter’s phone records without a licence to do so. Carpenter got mad about the police going through his records on his phone because it violates the fourth amendment.
