Running through the 14th to 17th century was the Renaissance, which is known as a rebirth in Europe. This piece in history was the bright light of relief after a storm. The Black Death struck and took out a huge bite of the population, (estimated 25 million people.) the Renaissance came with creativity, humanism, the printing press, and artists that are honored to this day. A great way to look at the Renaissance is the many artists that people study to this day. Tiziano Vecelli is a good example of an honored artist that was a role model and influenced others from then to the 20th century.
Tiziano Vecelli/Vecellio or better known as Titian, is known as one of the greatest artists in the Italian Renaissance. Titian’s birthday is uncertain, although it’s narrowed down to between 1488 to 1490’s and he was born in Pieve Di Cadore, Italy. His father was Gregorio Vecelli who was a superintendent for the castle of Pieve Di Cadore and also managed local mines for their owners. This was Titian’s last painting before he passed in the upcoming year. The story is solely about the goddess, Diana’s revenge. After the incident of Actaeon stumbling upon her, she alters Actaeon into a stag then has his own hounds maul him to death. The atmosphere isn’t blue and bright like his other painting Diana and Actaeon, The Death of Actaeon is with less saturation then gives off a windy storm feel. A body of water seeming rough with currents running through, the trees look twisted, along with the patch of flowers looking almost lifeless. The painting captures a scene of an once Peeping-Tom is seen as a predator becoming the prey as his punishment from Diana, who is spotted wearing a pink dress that gives most of the color in the piece who is also holding a bow in
