Over the last eight weeks, we have covered many topics in this class. Each of the chapters in the book discuss problems that we face in America, whether that racism, sexism, classism and any of the other ism. In reading the book I have become more aware of the problems that we face in America between the different races and classes, but I have also been made aware of some positive changes being made to achieve a more perfect union as guaranteed in the United States constitution. I believe everyone should be treated the same no matter their race, ethnicity, gender, class and sexuality. Homosexuals and transsexuals have had a tough time in America to receive equal rights and to be treated the same as everyone else. America has made strides in creating laws and policies that help protect this vulnerable population and bring positive change in our society, but more still needs to be done. …show more content…
I think of my hero Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and how he was instrumental in the civil rights movement. He took on great risks to bring change for people like me, an African American and alluded me some of the rights I enjoy today. Everyone should receive the same basic
