To answer this question I will be using a number of sources that give evidence for the question such as A, B, C and evidence against the question such as D, E. I agree with the question saying that the evacuation was well organized.

Source A is picture that was taken on September 1st 1939, this shows that the evacuation was organized because all the children are standing in lines with their rations and cases containing their clothes. Source B is a first hand account written by Beryl Heard who was evacuated, this source tells us that the evacuation was organized from quotes from the source such as “we were given a list of things to pack” and “we were given a departure date.” This shows us that the government wanted everything to be on a schedule that didn’t go wrong. Source C also gives us evidence for the question as it is from a mass observation diary of an evacuation officer. We can get evidence from the source that the evacuation was well organized from quotes such as “they marched up” which we can relate to source A. Also that “the station closed to the public at 8:15 and they all arrived well be fore then.”

To give even more evidence I will now determine their reliability. Source A is a picture that was taken on the very first day of evacuation. We can tell that the photo is not staged as most of the kids haven’t realized that the picture is being taken and that they are just minding there own business. We can tell that source B is reliable because it is a first hand account of someone that was evacuated. Source C is reliable because the evacuation officers had private diaries that they kept on them at all times so no on would have been able to take it and tamper with.

Source D shows us that the evacuation was not organized with quotes such as “hundreds of children arrived in the wrong place, with not enough rations” and “ more
