The narration is put in first person perspective and the narrator of the novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, is Scout Finch.

The narrator Scout explains that in her family the plantation business has been passed down through the years and Scout’s father is related to everyone in the town Maycomb, Alabama either through blood or marriage.

The town is described by Scout the narrator on page 6. Scout states that the people in the town were so poor that there was no money and nothing to spend it on and nowhere to go.

Scout and Jem state on page 6 their opinion of their father. Jem and Scout call their father satisfactory. “He played with us, read to us, and treated us with courteous detachment” found in paragraph 3 on page 6.
