One of the most important themes in the novel To Kill A Mockingbird is fear. One way to look at this is through Atticus. Throughout the book he had fear because he is fighting for an African American. Tom Robinson a respecful man was accused of rapping a white women. Atticus was assigned to defend Tom. Maycomb is filled with white folks, they threaten Atticus family because he is defending an African American. At that period of time dealing with an African American is very dangerous. Atticus could have died by trying to save Tom. Another example that suggest this is Tom Robinson. He's afraid of going to jail for something he didn't do and possibly dying. The third and final example is Boo Radley. Boo Radley has been seen as a dangerous man.
