In the novel To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, youth are shown multiple examples of hypocrisy and injustice in adult society. The two main youth perspective in this novel are from Jean Louise “Scout” Finch and Jeremy Atticus “Jem” Finch. Hypocrisy is defines as behavior that contradicts what one claims to believe or feel and multiple examples are shown in this novel about adult society. A major representation of hypocrisy is when Tom Robinson was accused of assaulting and raping Mayella Ewell. Tom Robinson committed no crime but because he was African American, the jury didn’t give him a fair conviction. In the end, he was found “guilty”. Another representation of hypocrisy is when Aunt Alexandra wants the children to be a “higher class”
