In “To Kill a Mockingbird”, Jem Finch is very protective, he said this “ you can choose your friends but you sho’ can’t choose your family”, I think this plays a big part in why he is so protective. Jem is very protective over Scout because they are always together, and sometimes I think he does not include her in games he plays with his friends because he doesn't want to see her get hurt. In the end of the book Jem and Scout were attacked by Bob Ewell and Jem's first instinct was to protect Scout instead of running away, this also ties into the fact that he is very brave. Bob Ewell attacking Jem and Scout resulted in Jem's arm being broken in the fight and being knocked unconscious.

In the beginning of the book Jem seems like a very
