The book and movie versions of To Kill A Mockingbird are both very well done. However, there are some key differences that affect the plot, such as removing Aunt Alexandra and Finch’s Landing from the movie and glossing over some of the racism. As well as some key similarities like an older version of Scout narrating the entire thing. The director’s choice to remove Aunt Alexandra and Finch’s Landing was a poor decision because of the significance Alexandra had in the novel. Throughout the book, Atticus’s sister tried to make Scout a “proper young lady” but Scout constantly refused. And while she didn’t realize it at first this taught Scout that she should always be herself despite what people say. Another plot change the director made was cutting out Finch’s Landing. The Christmas scene that took place there was extremely important because Scout’s fight with her cousin Francis is what made her realize that there is nothing wrong with her father representing Tom Robinson and that …show more content…
The book was written from an adult Scout’s point of view which allowed us to understand her thoughts and how she saw Maycomb County during Tom Robinson's as a young girl. While the movie whole movie wasn't from Scout's point of view like the book she did narrate a lot of it so we could still understand some of her thoughts. Also, there are some advantages to not having the entire movie through Scout's eyes, such as being able to see scenes that Scout was not present for, like when Atticus and Jem went to see helen Robinson after Tom died.
