Ever thought about how some people intended to stand out during racial times?
In To Kill A Mockingbird, Harper Lee used the character of Atticus to reveal social justice through Equality, Compassion, and Determination.
In To Kill A Mockingbird, Harper Lee presents the idea that equality comes from doing what’s right even though it may put one’s life may be put at risk. The character of Atticus taught his children the value of being a good human being and to be respectful of the different types, including the stereotypes. Atticus exemplified humane traits by defending. Equality was shown through tenacity by defending an innocent man even though racial pre justice was prevalent during his time, “I’m simply defending a Negro––his name if Tom Robinson. He lives in that little settlement beyond the town dump. At any point in time they could have just given up because of all the criticism. Every discussion Atticus had with his children impacted them greatly, “…you never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view––“. “–––until you climb into his skin and walk around in it” (Lee 30) I would refer this quote to the harsh judgements and crucial comments of the others -especially to Mr.Ewell. Jem and Scout became cautious and figured that Atticus should do something about him to prevent conflict that may occur. Atticus kept calm and disregarded. He gave the children an understanding that made them think twice of the entire situation. “…Jem, see if you can stand in Bob Ewell’s shoes a minute.
