Events, Information, Turning Points
• Scout realizes that Atticus is older than most of the other fathers in Maycomb
• Scout also realizes that Atticus is braver than he thought o Atticus shot a rabid dog on his fist shot from far away o Miss Maudie says that Atticus was the “best shot in town”
• Jem gets angry at Mrs. Dubose for telling him that Atticus is not better than the “niggers and trash he works for”
• Jem destroys all of Mrs. Dubose’s camellia bushes
• Jem had to read for 2 hours for a month for what he did
• Jem notices that each time he comes, the alarm clock is set longer
• Mrs. Dubose dies after the session ends
• Jem and scout learn that Mrs. Dubose was a morphine addict
• Because Mrs. Dubose didn’t want to die an addict, the alarm clock was set longer in order to take the morphine in increments of increased time
• Jem turns twelve
• Dill does not come to Maycomb for the summer
• Dill’s mother remarried
• Atticus is a part of the State Legislature and it is called into session
• Atticus has to go to the state capital every day for two weeks
• Calpurnia takes Scout and Jem to a “colored” church
• The church has no money
• Tom Robinson, the man accused of rape, goes to the church
• Bob Ewell accuses him of rape
• Aunt Alexandra is waiting at Atticus’ house for the children
• She says that the children need a “feminine influence”
• Alexandra is liked by the town
