To What Extent Are The Parents To Blame In Romeo And Juliet

Romeo and Juliet
When reading Romeo and Juliet some people would think that there was no stopping what happened to the two teenagers in love. There are other people that think that some characters in the play would be to blame. I think that the most to blame are the parents and other adults in the play. In Romeo and Juliet it would make the most sense to blame the adults . If the parents weren’t so focused on getting social class then maybe they would of been able to care more about their kids and see what was really happening. Both of them want to be the highest social class if they would've focused on their kids for once they may of seen how in love there kids are and help them be together. Friar Laurence was also to blame for what happened to Romeo and Juliet's because he married them without the parents knowing, and he did countless things that ended up with both of them dying. Also Friar Laurence acknowledged that the kids and the parents didn’t have a good relationship and he still got them married and gave Juliet the potion that made her fall asleep.

At this point in the play Juliet's parents are planning her wedding with Paris without her knowing. Tybalt had just been killed by Romeo and Juliet's parents think that she is so sad because of her cousin dying but in reality she is so sad because Romeo had been banished from Verona. Her parents thought that if she got married then she would be happier and maybe her life would be better. Even though she didn’t want to marry Paris, her parents planned her wedding for her without her knowing. I think that if they would of talked to her about her love life and who she liked, maybe she would of been able to be honest with them and she would be allowed to be with
