To What Extent Was Julius Caesar A Hero

Julius Caesar, hero, ruler of Rome. Rome was so lucky to have Caesar because as said in “Killing Caesar” by Jon Herman “Never before had Rome been governed so well or so efficiently.” If Rome was ruled so well and so lucky to have Caesar, did he really deserve to die? No, he was a hero. There is a main question here. How was Julius Caesar a hero? Many said that Caesar and his rule was a blessing. For example, “Now, while the average Roman basked in Caesars rule.” This shows that most of the people loved Caesar. One main reason they loved Caesar so much was because he supplied Rome with needed supplies. For example, “how continuously sailed up the Tiber River supplying Rome with more grain than the city needed.” Caesar went above and beyond to give Rome everything they needed and more. Additionally Caesar had done it again. Yet again had he done great deeds. Not only has he supplied Rome, but he has created jobs for the people of Rome who needed them. The two sides in this situation happens to be that Caesar was a hero or a tyrant. Some people think Caesar was a tyrant. Some think this because Caesar “Took their power.” Some others think this because he made a law that made him “a living god” For example, “The senate had ruled Rome poorly, caring more about their own political squabbles than the people, and now Caesar had taken their power.” This shows that he Caesar “took” the power from the people of Rome. Another example is “But Caesar took to wearing red bots. Red boots were only worn by kings.” This shows that he is trying to be a higher power than he is. However when Caesar was in power the people were happier. Caesar did great things such as gave poor people bread. For example, “Hungry hordes in the city were now given free bread.” Caesar did his best to help the people of Rome, everyone who said that Caesar stole their power is just jealous that he had a higher power than they could’ve
