In ancient Japan, many warriors and commanders were needed during feudal times. A shogun was known as the commander-in-chief of the military. The shogun was generally the ruler of the country at the time. Tokugawa Ieyasu was one of the most well known and powerful shoguns during his time. He brought great success to Japan during his rule. Tokugawa was born in 1542 and was a natural leader. He was born into the family of a military leader. Due to war and unrest, he was sent away as a hostage. The text explicitly stated that he was only two years old when he was sent away. Tokugawa was a hostage to the Imagawa family for two years. This is how his success began.
Tokugawa was considered a “warlord” because of his military training
