The art of pitching a baseball is something that is so special to watch that it is relatively difficult to compare it to anything else on this entire planet. Whether you like the game or not, it is pretty easy to admit that there is nothing quite like witnessing a tall and slender major league baseball player with a muscular build standing at the top of an elevated mound of dirt. For me, it’s kind of like a king sitting upon his throne. Some people might not have ever really given it much thought, but pitching is so much more than just somebody flailing their arms and body to throw a ball 60 feet 6 inches over and over again. Back in the day when baseball was one the only ways of American entertainment around, rarely did you ever hear of somebody severely injuring their throwing arm. Granted, it might not have been uncommon to hear that a guy had a sore arm from so much use, but not very often would you hear that a guy had to be completely shut down for an extended period of time because his arm was injured. That all changed in the middle of the 1974 Major League baseball season when a starting pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers by the name of Tommy Edward John Jr. was off to one of the best beginnings to his professional career (Baseball Legend np.).
