Tomoe Gozen is a famous female samurai warrior. She is a legend to some for her martial arts history. Tomoe Gozen is mostly famous for going into battle with Minamoto Yoshinka, a famous warrior, some even say that they were a couple. Tomoe Gozen’s most known story is the Battle of Awazu. As Tomoe Gozen’s life goes on she gets married and ends her life as a nun. There is much people today can learn from Tomoe Gozen’s strength and wisdom. Tomoe Gozen learned martial arts showing much determination. On one website posted on the bottom of this report it speaks of this. “Learning the lessons of warrior society taught women to have a strong resolve in the face of danger.” This proves Tomoe Gozen was looked as, as being very powerful and strong because of the skills she learned. Also, Tomoe Gozen is mostly famous for going into battle with Minamoto Yoshinka, another famous warrior. As well as in the second paragraph, I saw this quote from the website below. “She is famed for going into battle alongside the samurai warrior Minamoto Yoshinaka, who she served with absolute loyalty…according to some sources she was also his mistress or even his wife.” This proves that some people had a suspicion of the two samurais of …show more content…
This battle consists of the end as we know Minamoto Yoshinka. In one of the articles below, and previously used it shows this. “Her most famous story is from the Battle of Awazu (1184) where Yoshinaka was finally defeated by his enemies…When the battle was lost, Yoshinaka told Tomoe he will fight to the death but she should leave the battle field as he would be shamed to die fighting with a woman…after killing another opposing samurai warrior, she complied and escaped...” This proves not only how this is Tomoe Gozen’s most famous story, but also how society back then was. Having had Minamoto Yoshinaka being of shame for dying from fighting with a women, shows how sexist it was back
