There have been many male samurais throughout Japan's history, and they have always been the ones who were the heroes, the superman of their time, in the twelfth century Tomoe Gozen one of the only documented female samurais that was known for her bravery and strength, she did things that many women did not even get the opportunity to do. Tomoe Gozen was an example to many other women not only for her bravery but courage, and she was a leader to her fellow comrades in war belong side her leader Lord Kiso.

Tomoe Gozen was a twelfth century woman samurai that was among the greatest that lived, not only because she was a women but the actions that she took in battles which was greater that most of her fellow men. Gozen did what many others could simply not do, but she did and, did it well. Despite the gender barriers Gozen rose up and was an extraordinary woman samurai, and in doing so she brought great honor and respect to her family.
