There are many controversies if year round schooling is the most beneficial. The traditional summers we have was created a long time ago so that kids were out of school and were able to help there parents harvest crops during the summer. So is long summer breaks really the best for us now?
The year round schooling isn't exactly what some people think. 3000 schools had year round schooling this year which is around 14 percent of schools but it is becoming more and more common. The year round schooling the kids take breaks through out the year. Most year-round schools have short 15-day breaks, or intersessions, spread out over the whole year.Students who are enrolled in a year-round school go to school the same number of days as students on a traditional schedule. In addition, year-round schools are organized by tracks, which go with specific schedules and courses.
There are many benefits of the year round schooling. A Duke University study suggested kids attending year-round schools are at a advantage, because they don't forget what they learned during the long summer break. Teachers don't have to spend nearly as long reviewing things. Schools in fast-growing areas can benefit from the year round use because of overcrowding. When this occurs, kids are placed on multi-tracks, and alternate tracking in and out of the school, a way that keeps the buildings in use at all times. A year-round schedule might reduce absences because the frequently scheduled breaks allow for sick or exhausted teachers and students to recover and recuperate before returning to school.
