Graduate nurses often experience a period of adjustment to their new work environment. According to Duchscher (2009), this period can be dramatic enough to be considered “transition shock.” This stage of stock is the most drastic of the entire transitional journey for any new RN moving into the health care profession and a trying to blend into a new work environment (Duchscher, 2009).
