In the book Travels with Charley, John Steinbeck goes in the search of America with his french poodle Charley. If Charley was a dog it would be drastically different.Charley is an animal where a person is a human. A dog is a man’s best friend so the relationships would be different.Charley is a charming happy dog and does not go through a lot of anger.If a dog is mad,they bark.If a human gets mad,then they usually yell and fight.The two types are different so there would be some major differences in not only the title, but the main story and plot.There would be major differences.John Steinbeck wouldn’t of had to deal with the government and regulations, his loneliness,and meeting people along the way because of Charley if he would have brought a human.

Most of the people he meets along are because of Charley. On page 162,he deals with a problem with bears in Montana.A man stops Steinbeck to tell him about the dog may have a problem with the bears.Steinbeck says “this is an unique dog. He does not live by tooth or fang. He respects the right of cats to be cats although he doesn’t admire them. He turns his steps rather than disturb an earnest caterpillar. His greatest fear is that someone will point out a rabbit and suggest that he chase it. This is a dog of peace and tranquility. I suggest that the greatest danger to your bears will be pique at being ignored by Charley.” The man respects him and goes on saying that he does not thing it will be Charley that will be the main reason,he says it is the bears because they can easily eat them and would enjoy it. If Steinbeck did not bring Charley, Steinbeck wouldn’t of got to meet that guy. They would never have a conversation because the guy talks about Charley and the issues as if he was to bring a human, there would be no problem except just to watch out for the
