It takes one moment of impact to change a life, to alter it in the most complex ways. Cole is an 18 year old boy who just volunteered to serve in the Army after graduating high school. Little did he know, that the moments spent in the military, would impact his life forever. Ethics, morals, and integrity are not only words, but qualities that soldiers like Cole acquire. Cole fought two battles; a battle within the United States military and a battle within himself. It only took a moment for Cole to loose himself completely, and a moment to gain it back by deciding to further his education. It is reasons like Cole, who impact college professors to start making indefinite changes on how they approach materials that need a viewer discretion advisory note attached. It is shown that professors are respecting the needs of students when he or she reveals potentially harmful material by providing a common sense trigger warning beforehand. Additionally, trigger warnings allow students to create a learning horizon that stretches for miles. Typically, because trigger warnings give students the opportunity to exercise one’s opinion throughout a class discussion. Even though trigger warnings do not prevent traumatic events from happening, they still can subside emotional detriment from occurring within a classroom environment. Each author highlighted all have allegedly assumptions that trigger warnings should be enforced at the college education level. All in all, today’s colleges should use trigger warnings because it shows respect for students, it allows expansion of academics, and it helps protect emotional trauma students may already
