Trio Concert

On February 12, 2017, I attended a trio concert that was performed by “the Claremont Trio”. The trio consisted of a violin, a cello, and a piano. The performance was held at the Bailey Hall, Broward College in Davie. The theater seats were about 400 people, and there were around 100 people. Mainly senior citizens attended the presentation. The concert dress was casual for the audience, but the Claremont Trio was very elegantly dressed. The program was provided, and the concert followed the printed program very well.
 Before I assisted to the concert, I made a research about the composers, the group performance, and the compositions to understand and appreciate more the experience. I discovered that the style of music played during the concert was varied because of all the different musical eras represented.

This is the moment I was waiting for. 
The program started with a composition of Sean Shepherd named Florid Hopscotch, a piece that greatly impacted me. The interpretation of this composition can be characterized by an intense and dramatic use of fluctuating dynamic. The piece began quietly and the mood became more dramatic as it progressed. The Trio was very energetic performing this piece and seemed to be very passionate while playing.
The second section of the concert, Trio in G minor, Op. 15, started with a piece of Bedrich Smetana: “Moderato assai-più animato”. The piece began with a solo violin melody. Very quickly, the piano and, in particular the cello, entered and provided a firm layer of support. The climax of the first movement occurred at the final part. I think, this was the most inspirational piece of the whole concert.
After the second section the intermission arrived, it was about fifteen minutes long. Considering that listening to music is a very intense activity, the pause in the middle of the concert helped me to concentrate and enjoy the second half much
