Will lions become extinct? Are lions coming into our land or are the people moving into theirs? Why is wildlife disappearing? This is one of the many reasons why trophy hunting should not be allowed. Some other reasons include, that the animals should be protected, trophy hunting doesn’t benefit local people and villagers, and trophy hunting can be harmful to endangered species. To begin with, trophy hunting should not be allowed. It does not benefit local people and villagers. According to Junior Scholastic, “A 2013 report found that as little as 3% of those funds actually make it to locals.” It also states in The New York Times, “In assessing the flow of trophy hunting revenue to conservation efforts, we found many troubling examples of funds’ either being diverted from their purpose or not being dedicated to conservation in the first place.” The text proves that very little of the funds from hunting animals goes towards the people or …show more content…
In the article “Africa’s Uneasy Neighbors”, “In July, hunting guides lured a lion named Cecil from a protected area in a national park in Zimbabwe.” The text goes on to state, “The killing of Cecil, who was a tourist attraction and had been studied by scientists since 2008, sparked outrage around the world.” The last piece of evidence is in The New York Times and it states, “Trophy hunting also removes a significant number of animals from these rapidly declining populations.” That proves that trophy hunting can be harmful to animals that are already almost extinct. In the final analysis, allowing people to trophy hunt should be banned or not allowed. It doesn’t benefit others, the animals aren’t safe, and it contributes to animal extinction. The world needs to realize that animals will be extinct and they won’t come back. Children won’t be able to see the beautiful animals. That is why we need to stop poaching and other forms of trophy
