True Identity In 'April And Hercules' Masks

It’s important for somebody to know his or her true identity so they can show others who they really are. That's important because, in most cases, people shouldn’t bandwagon and should just be themselves. You also need to know your true identity so you can make actual friends, not just fake friends. I mean fake friends as people you don’t like, or shouldn’t hang out with, yet you do it anyways just to seem cool. Those were a few reasons it’s important to know your true identity. Hercules and April struggled to find their true identity because they were wearing a mask, one physical, one metaphorical.

Both April’s and Hercules’ masks were keeping them from finding their true self. Hercules’ mask was making him think that he was human, so he’d fit in, but his true self was a god. To find his true self, Hercules had to go on a mission to regain his godliness. April’s mask was trying to make her bandwagon everyone else to fit in, however, April was different. She had to dare to be her true self, even if that meant that people will make fun of her and laugh at her, but she did it anyways. Both their masks’ struggled to keep April and Hercules normal, yet April and Hercules’ ‘took their masks off.’ Those were a few similarities on April and Hercules’ masks and their struggle to take these masks off.

Unlike Hercules’ path, Aprils’ was to be different. Maybe April would lose some friends, or possibly even make some. But Hercules’ path was life threatening, and if he messed up, there’s no second chances. Because of that, Hercules’ struggle was a lot more dangerous because friends and enemies, they come and go, their ‘temporary.’ However, life and death isn’t. If you die, you're done, it’s over.
