In the story “Trying to Save Piggy Sneed”, John Irving is very sorry for the way he treated Piggy Sneed. One of the many ways he shows this is by trying to create a better ending for Piggy Sneed. He made up a story before he could admit to himself and everyone else that Piggy Sneed was dead. This shows that he couldn't bare the thought of Mr. Sneed being dead so he felt very guilty and probably regretted the way he treated him.
