The Tuskegee Airmen were the first group of African Americans to fight in the war. At first the army was only open to whites, but in the late 1930’s that all changed when they let Black people into the army to learn how to fight and fly airplanes. The Tuskegee Airmen can be explained through how the group was formed, and their achievements, and how accurate the movie ‘’Red Tails’’ is to historical facts.
The Tuskegee Airmen were the first black military airmen in the United States. All branches of the Army were deeply segregated. This was formed with the help of Eleanor Roosevelt, the wife of Franklin Roosevelt, who was the president at the time.
