Def Leppard is an English heavy metal band founded in 1977, now they are considered classic rock. The original founding members were Rick Savage on bass, Rick Allen on drums, Pete Wills on guitar, Joe Elliot as lead singer, and Steve Clark also on guitar. For this album review I decided to do one of their best critically acclaimed album, Pyromania which was created in 1983. The track list for this album included hits like: Rock! Rock!, Foolin’, and Rock of Ages. Widway through recording Pyromania Pete Wills was fired and Phil Collen was hired replacing his on the guitar.
Rock of Ages is the seventh song of the album. The introduction of the song is what sounds like a German phrase, although it is just gibberish, which says, “gunter glieben glauchen globen.” Rock of Ages follows a verse chorus form. This is a dynamic song has a fast tempo, call-and-response, and a memorable guitar solo played by Steve Clark. By having dynamics in the song it keep the listener interested because if it were too loud or soft the entore time many people would loose interest or find it annoying.

The introduction of the song is a guitar solo. “Can you feel it in the air” is part of the chorus where you can hear short harmonies. Towards the end of the song someone says, “bang bang” in a non-caring and monotone way then the song seems like it ends the it starts back up with no lyrics, only a synthesizer and drums can be heard and stops as suddenly as it started. I am still unclear as to why they added the last bit to the song, and it is an odd way to end an album. Most artists want to go out with a bang, and I suppose they did in an eerie sort of
