Before reading the rest of the article I had to first look up the definition of two-spirit identity and what GLBT stands for. Two- Spirit refers to a person who has both a masculine and a feminine spirit and is used by some first nation people to describe their sexual, gender, and or /or spiritual identity. Most non-native GLBT and queers were not engaged with the work of Two-Spirit organizers but were interested in the history of their sexual and gender diversity. Queer was considered strange and unsettling. Two-Spirit doesn't describe a Native sexual minority instead its identity is questioned the colonial origin and logic of sexual identity for non-Native. Two- Spirit identity Native American Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and transgender individuals with traditional and cultural understanding of gender roles and identity. GLBT stands for G-Gay, L-Lesbian, B-Bisexual, and T-transgender. In San Francisco (GAI) was formed to continue to support Native American heterosexuals. As the years and time progressed the two- spirit organizers began to appeal sexual minority politics specifically when Native AIDS organizations opposed colonial heterosexism as determinant of health. Two Spirit organization for years have been trying to keep the Native cultural alive. The most common way to keep reproducing the culture is by having intercourse with a male and female.
