America is the promised land where anyone can come to this country and live the American dream. The American dream is everyone being viewed as an equal. It is also that everyone has an equal opportunity to success and prosperity, through hard work, determination, and enterprise. In America, a person can be an immigrant, or a citizen and rise from poverty to become a CEO of a Fortune 500 company. Anyone can practice their religion without prosecution, or speak freely without the fear of punishment from the government. America has many types of immigrants who call this country home. The coveted American responsibility of getting to vote and serve on a jury, which as a naturalized citizen will become your civic duty. This action is the envy of most immigrants, the idea that you can make a difference and have your voice heard. As a citizen living or traveling outside of the United States you have assistance or protection from the U.S. government. In the event of lost or stolen passports, medical emergencies, terrorism, and civil unrest, the government will assist their citizens. A naturalized citizen also becomes eligible for federal jobs, such as the postal service, law enforcement or working for the government.
