In chapter one of Ultima and Antonio, each character is introduced in a different way. The chapter starts with the parents being introducing as their marriage falling apart. "This conflict affects the parents' relationship with each other and causes a constant argument about their expectations for Antonio". This quote right here introduces Antonio as the main character and he has a lot of him plate.
From the first 4 chapters of the book I can see the personalitys of some of the characters such as Antonio, his parents, and Ultima.
Antonio seems to be closed off from a lot of people and only likes to be with himself for the most part. I think he doesn't really want to follow any religious beliefs or anything like his family may want him to.
