Nowadays, about 11 million undocumented immigrants are living in the United States. Ac-cording to the Pew Research Center, between 2009 and 2012, the number of unauthorized people grew in seven states and fell in 14. States with a rising number of illegal immigrants were East Coast States such as Florida, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Virginia. In contrast to that, the amount of unauthorized migration shrunk in western states like Arizona, California and Colorado. In general, the number of undocumented immigrants declined in 2012 after it had peaked in 2007 at 12.2 million. Especially the amount of Mexican immi-grants did drop remarkably.
