Who wouldn’t want to have a overprotective babysitter who has a great sense of humor? Uncle Buck was asked to come watch the children while Cindy and Bob is gone for an emergency. He didn’t hesitate and accepted the job as soon as he received the call from his brother. That’s a good sign that he will be a responsible babysitter for the kids. Although he doesn’t know much about Tia, Miles and Maizy, he took over the house, and tried to do the best he can for the kids. On his first day, Tia greets him with a cold silence and is embarrassed when Buck drops her off to school, but he didn’t care and tried to understand her. Throughout the story, Uncle Buck stayed calm and understanding to the kids, which shows that Bob and Cindy made the right decision on having him in the house. …show more content…
First of all, he knows his limitations, like having a good balance between being harsh and caring when necessary. For example, when Tia asked her Uncle if she could go to a party, he didn’t allow her because he thinks that she will have a sex with her boyfriend, Bug. The night of the party, Tia sneaked out and Uncle Buck knew about it so he cancelled his plans and went out to find her, “She’s 15, she’s angry, she’s confused. I need to find her!” If Uncle Buck doesn’t care about Tia, he would’ve just went to the horse race that will provide him enough money for his living. But then he feared that Bug will take advantage of Tia, so he looked for her. Instead of seeing his niece on the bed with Bug, he saw him making out with another girl. After what happened, he saw Tia walking on the sidewalk and told her everything he saw. Therefore, Tia ended up apologizing to Uncle Buck about everything she had done, “You’re right. Everything you said could’ve happened.” By all means, he cares about the kids and loves them so much like his own
