Definitions and Understanding of Forgery:
Forgery is the development of making, altering, or duplicating objects, or documents with the intention to trick or misinform for the sake of varying the public opinion, or to earn profit by selling the forged item. Any sort of copies or replications and reproducing text, media or tangible objects are not contemplated as forging although they may later become considered forgery through intentional and conscious misrepresentations. When it comes to significant government documents, they are placed at the top end of punishments and have the highest penalty. Forgery is considered a federal offense and felony in every single state in the united states, and numerous consequences have been implemented to promote discipline by an assortment of punishments and penalties including possible jail or even prison time, substantial charges, probation, and restitution which is giving back to the person in which the crime has affected as to compensate them for their pain and suffering. There are even some states that consider specific types of forgery simply misdemeanor offenses only. A misdemeanor offense oftenly are punished less severely and more compassionately than a felony offense. Last week, a Fort Worth, Texas chiropractor was sentenced to just over a year in federal prison following a felony conviction for submitting false claims to Medicare and Medicaid, according to an FBI release. Melva Mitchell submitted claims for chiropractic services that weren't performed, and collected Medicare and Medicaid provider information from licensed occupational therapists and also billed for therapy services that weren't provided. In one instance, Mitchell filed claims for 25 chiropractic manipulations for days when she was actually on vacation in Puerto Rico. Meanwhile, in New Orleans, the owner of a chiropractic practice pleaded guilty to fraudulently billing healthcare insurance plans for chiropractic services that were not rendered, including back braces and X-rays, according to an FBI release. David Lee Killen also billed insurers for an expensive allergy test that he either did not provide or gave to patients in exchange for reduced co-pays. This is just one of the many similar cases of prominent issues in the chiropractic world in which can easily be avoided by creating a detailed plan and system to avoid any false claims to insurance companies. I have heard of many incidences of chiropractors being audited and sued because of falsely billing services
