Understanding Shusaku Endo's Silence

My understanding of Shusaku Endo’s, Silence was enhanced by the class’s fervent discussion upon the Japanese Social Class and Hierarchy, and the Tokugawa Shogunate. More precisely, the class detailed the distinctions of Japanese social class and how it was accomplished, and how the Christians fared underneath the Tokugawa Shogunate. Furthermore, the discussion branched out to include the historical context from which Endo’s Silence, was written.
The Japanese Social class was based around the Shogun, and as the class discussed, beneath the emperor, he was the ruler of Japan.
