Unforgettable Rhetorical Analysis

In the song, Unforgettable by Thomas Rhett, I have been able to explore the different literary elements the song contains. While listening to the song, the first two examples that stand out to me personally are Imagery and Point of View. While Unforgettable may seem to have a light hearted feel, I believe that this song represents the time of the beginning of a relationship to the more mature present day. Imagery is probably the most commonly recognized literally element throughout Rhett’s song. His specific and detailed descriptions of his night progressing and the actions of both him and the woman he’s with give the listener a realistic insight to the exact time and place this occurred. For example, in the start of the song, Rhett begins with, “It was the 14th of October, Had that t-shirt off your shoulder, I was drunk, said I was sober, And you said yeah right.” I believe Rhett mentioned the month because October, or Fall, is generally a lot of people's favorite times of the year. …show more content…
Also, the t-shirt hanging off her shoulder could have suggested something sexual that he was liking. In addition to the time, in chorus 2, Rhett states “That mango-rita you were drinkin’ and that coldplay song that you were signin’, and I bet right now you're probably thinkin’ that it's crazy I remember every detail but I do, from your blue jeans to your shoes, Girl, that night was just like you, Unforgettable”. In my eyes, I believe that this imagery not only shows more insight to that night, but shows an underlying meaning. Rhett explains how 3 of his senses were affected by this
